With the rise of technology, there are numerous websites available for kids to learn and have fun at the same time. I’m really careful which websites I allow my kids to visit. Some websites display ads that may not be appropriate for your kids. Other sites require you to login and give up information.
I’m not big on using apps as that requires you to put a mobile device on the hands of my little ones. With a desktop computer or laptop, I can better monitor these websites. If you want to keep your kids safe online here are some tips.
- Use a desktop with a profile that has limited applications
- Use a VPN like PureVPN (makes it harder for websites to collect your data)
- Never , Never, NEVER use Youtube, Twitch Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Tik Tok for kids under 15 to try to teach and entertain your kids
- Use the OS settings to prohibit certain websites (pornography, gambling, etc)
- Monitor the history of websites they’ve visited
- Save the websites they’re allowed to visit by bookmarking them
- Don’t use a browser like Chrome, Safari or Edge. Try Brave or Firefox
- Don’t allow them to use a Gmail or free email that you don’t have access to
