With busy work schedules it is hard to keep up with all the great content that is available across the web, especially as a small business owner. While you are building your business there are bound to be times where you need advice in specific areas from experts, but you may not have the budget to pay for that advice. Podcasts can be a great option for learning about different parts of the business-building experience, including finance, marketing and just entrepreneurship, in general. To start you off on your learning journey, here are 17 small business podcasts to listen to on the go:
The other thing to keep in mind is that listening to podcasts doesn’t need to be complicated. Whether you’re on your desktop, on your smartphone or your car, it’s easy to stream your favorite podcast from just about any device. The 2 most popular podcast players are Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Followed by Amazon Podcasts, Pandora, Google Podcasts, Tunein, iHeart, Overcast, Soundcloud and many more.
Live podcasts are great for churches, artists and creators. My favorite app to listen to live podcasts on is Podbean. You’ll also find some podcasters using Twitter Spaces.
If you’re interested in obtaining the transcript from your favorite podcaster you can find the show notes from most podcasters on their website or on Listen Notes. Some podcasters will also provide CC on their videos. This is especially helpful if you’re in a place where you can’t listen to the audio, but can read the text on your screen.
While podcasters have streamed their videos on Youtube and Facebook for many years, it’s never been a good experience. Let’s face it, most people can’t stand the user experience on Google and Meta products. Why? Because they’re the 2 dominant forces in the digital advertising world. What this means for the user is a poor experience. Google and Meta will always view it’s users as a monetization vehicle. Every view, every click – must equal a payout. Spotify and Anchor (owned by Spotify) are leading the pack when it comes to video podcasts. It’s easy to stream it on the apps. If you don’t have a paid subscription you’ll hear some ads but it’s a whole lot less than Google’s and Meta’s platforms.
